Italy is to some degree shrouded in mystery, with many relatively unknown indigenous grape varieties producing wines which often remain under the radar. There are of course many recognizable and great wines, such as Barolo, Amarone, Chianti and Brunello. We are pleased to bring you a diverse and growing range and an increasing number direct from the domaines.
Made using predominantly the Negroamaro grape which is native to Southern Italy, this wine has the deep colour which is so often captured from this variety. The ageing in American oak gives the slightest hint of vanilla sweetness and when combined with the elegant velvety tannins produces a wonderfully rich and moreish wine. The finish is long and silky, with a wonderful hit of dark fruits on the palate. This is an ideal wine for a long family lunch, great with a variety of meats and cheeses.
