Italy

Italy is to some degree shrouded in mystery, with many relatively unknown indigenous grape varieties producing wines which often remain under the radar. There are of course many recognizable and great wines, such as Barolo, Amarone, Chianti and Brunello. We are pleased to bring you a diverse and growing range and an increasing number direct from the domaines.

2015 Beneventano Aglianico Igt Vesevo Campania (Bottle - 1/75cl)

The Anglianico from Vesevo is complex and intense on the palate with notes of red fruits - cranberries, cherries and raspberries, this is followed by a touch of spice and a slight hint of vanilla on the lengthy finish.

2015 Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG Carpineto (Bottle - 1/75cl)

Located between Florence and Siena, the Chianti Classico region is the sole producer of this wine. Aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 1 year, giving the wine a wonderful complexity and richness, it is then transferred back into steel tanks before being added to the bottle. Flavours of vanilla and raspberry here with a definite silkiness on the round, full palate. This would be delicious served alongside a joint of beef.
