This is a reserve red wine made almost entirely from Tempranillo grapes.
Beginning with very ripe grapes from the low-production vineyards. Between 10% and 20% of the malolactic fermentation is carried out in new French oak barrels with regular stirrings. It stays for 24 months if American and French oak barrels and ends by staying a final 3 months in French oak casks. It finally stays for a minimum of 12 months in bottles before its sale. The taste of oak remains in the background, well blended with the fruit. Complex and elegant.
Seven years in the making, Chateau Musar Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault from vineyards near the Bekaa Valley villages of Ammiq, Aana and Kefraya on gravelly soils over limestone.
