Pinotage is a classic South African variety and originates from a 1925 cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault (known as Hermitage in South Africa). The Fairview Pinotage was primarily harvested from bush vines in Malmesbury and Agter-Paarl, some of which are over 25 years old. These older vineyards are dry farmed and the vines grow on deep soils. This is supplemented by fruit from an irrigated, younger, trellised vineyard at Fairview.
La Crema as a company focus on cool climate wines as they say that these growing conditions produce uniquely expressive and elegant flavours. It makes sense then that they would gravitate towards Monteray, as this is known as one of the best cool climate appellations. This Pinot Noir is rich and juicy with a wonderfully balanced acidity, notes of plum and cherry alongside a hint of rhubarb. Serve this alongside a simple grilled chicken and salad, delicious.
An aromatic wine with tropical fruit and candied lemon flavour. A refreshing palate with an elegant acidity and smooth finish.
