Wine was first produced in Australia in 1820 and within two years the first bottles were being exported, so it is no surprise that Oz is the 4th biggest exporter of wine in the world. The major grapes used in Australia are Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Semillon, Merlot, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc with production concentrated in the cooler southern states of New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. The standout wine in the country is Penfolds which rivals the best in the world but we also have a range to suit every palate and occasion.
This wine is hand bottled without filtration or fining, and averages 30 years of age. Zesty on the nose, this sweet wine is packed with marmalade and honey flavours along with citrus and apricot. An intense and dry finish follows. Lovely served chilled as an aperitif, or matched with an indulgent desert - either way we think its a must this Christmas.

The palate is wonderfully balanced with notes of apple and a hint of lime, perfectly complimented by a touch of oak coming through on the finish.

Having arrived in Australia in the 1950's the Mitolo family began as market farmers growing vegetables, they branched out into the wine industry many years later and produced their first wine in 1999. Their business plan consisted of 6 words - individuality, integrity, quality, purity, elegance and power. This is an easy drinking Cabernet Sauvignon from Mitolo, bright and juicy on the palate full of dark fruit flavours and a definite richness.
