2018 Sancerre Croq'caillotte Emille Balland (Bottle - 1/75cl)

100% Sauvignon Blanc from 0.9 ha of south facing vines in clay limestone soils covered in caillottes (small limestones, typical of the terroir)  Natural yeast fermentation takes place in stainless steel then rests on lees for up to 5 months with light filtration before bottling. Classic flinty minerality along with zesty citrus notes and classic Sauvignon grassiness.
This is an excellent Sancerre, with elegance,  richness and complexity that puts it above many others. Emile Balland has only been making her wine since 1999, but she been part of a winemaking family that stretches back to the mid-17th Century.
