Languedoc - Roussillon
Dynamic wine region due by the fact of winemaker have been improved the wine quality in the last 20 years. It has shaken off the image of light mass produced wines of the 1970’s. It is the largest wine region in France as regards the area under vine. It also has a great diversity or grapes, soils and style of wine (Sparkling, still and sweet wine).
This is a lovely deep red colour, bursting with dark fruits and hints of cedar on the nose. Medium bodied with a good balance of acidity and tannins on the palate. Pair this with a joint of lamb on a Sunday afternoon.
This is a lovely garnet red colour, there is a definite liquorice on the nose along with a hint of violets. The palate is delicious and complex, with notes of black cherry, tannins and the liquorice coming through on the finish.
From the relatively new and audacious Chapoutier project in Latour de France, Roussillon. It is a blend of Grenache (65%) and Syrah (35%) from the Domaine de Bila-Haut. This bold terroir is composed of stony soils, giving smooth and spicy Syrah, and providing for garrigue rich Grenache (70 year old vine). The wine is energetic, elegant, and boasts a deeply spiced palate. Good minerality on the finish.
