Bordeaux

The Bordeaux blend has been copied with considerable success in many other wine regions, the ultimate compliment. The Left Bank of the Gironde River boasts the great Chateaux of the Medoc and Graves, whilst on the Right Bank, Saint Emilion (arguably the most beautiful commune) and Pomerol. Bordeaux is synonymous with the finest quality, predominantly in red wines though great dry whites are made in the Pessac Leognan, and most wine lovers will strive to taste the sweet white wines of Chateau Yquem and its neighbouring Chateau in Sauternes and Barsac.

1940 Pichon Lalande 2nd Cru Pauillac (Case - 12/75cl)

It is a truly unique opportunity to taste an ancient and historic vintage, such as this one! The 1940 grape harvest took place very soon after the German occupation of France began and as a result, production was severely reduced despite a good year for wines in Bordeaux. Enjoy this rare bottling, but take a moment to reflect on those who took great effort to make it.

1996 Lagrange A Pomerol (Case - 12/75cl)

Chateau Lagrange Pomerol is known for creating fruity wines which can be enjoyed nicely in their youth. They do however have some good concentration and tannic structure which offers the opportunity for some improvement when placed in a good cellar! This 96 will have fully resolved tannins and plenty of aromatic character.
