Scotch Single Malt Whisky
These are whiskies that have been distilled at one distillery only, aged for at least three years and bottled above 40% abv. No grain whiskies can sit within this character, only those that have been made purely with malted barley. There are six regions where Scotch single malts are produced, these typically define the style and character of the whiskies. Speyside and Highlands are renowned for those rich and fruity styled whiskies, whilst Islay is home to the peat smoke.
Distilled in 1997, this single malt from Longrow was aged for a total of 14 years which included a 3 year finish in ex-Burgundy wine casks. 7,800 bottles were produced.
Clynelsh single malt whisky aged for 20 years in a single sherry Puncheon and bottled in 2017 by Càrn Mòr. The cask was filled in September 1997 and emptied two decades later, bottled at natural cask strength. All kinds of yummy sherry notes are kicking in this one.
Old Malt Casks popular bottlings comes this 16 year old Clynelish matured in a single refill hogshead. Distilled by the Highland distillery of Clynelish in May 1997 and bottled in February 2014, a small outturn of just 318 bottles were produced.

A fascinating 20 year old (just!) Ledaig whisky released as part of Carn Mor’s Celebration of the Cask Range. This was distilled at Tobermory distillery on the 1st October 1997, aged in a hogshead, and bottled on 4th October 2017 at 50.2% ABV. An ever distinctive peated offering from this Isle of Mull cult malt!

Aged for 18 years in a single refill Hogshead from a September 1997 distillation and bottled in 2016 at natural cask strength and without chill filtering and at natural colour with only 266 bottles released.
Unpeated cask strength single malt Scotch from Caol Ila bottled for the 2015 Special Releases. This 17 year old is the first unpeated release from the distillery to be aged in American Oak ex-bourbon casks.

A single cask Bowmore from Adelphi, distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2017 at natural cask strength. Just 545 bottles were filled from cask #2411.
Bottled by Hunter Laing as part of the Old Malt Cask range, 15 year old Bowmore matured in a refill hogshead. This Islay single malt was initially distilled in October 1997 until it was bottled in May 2013 where the single cask was emptied, and 239 bottles were filled at 50% ABV. A tasty coastal whisky, from the Island of Islay.
Tamdhu is a well-loved Speyside distillery, and this is an exciting 20 year old release from Carn Mors Celebration of the Cask Range. It was distilled in May 1997, aged in a hogshead and bottled in October 2017 at a robust 54.6% ABV.
Two hogshead casks - numbers 4237 & 4241 - were blended together to make this particular single malt from Signatory. Part of the Cask Strength Collection, it was distilled in 1997 at Linkwood distillery, matured for 20 years and bottled in November 2017 at 57.5% ABV. Only 341 bottles were released.
Single cask Linkwood bottled up by Hunter Laing for their grand Old Malt Cask range. This 19 year old Speyside single malt spent its time maturing in a refill hogshead from June 1997 to January 2017, which filled a total 303 bottles.

Glen Keith distillery is nestled behind the picturesque Strathisla distillery, and there have been just a few official releases over the years. So it's up to the indies to make it more accessible - this is a cracking 15 year old bottled for Douglas Laing's great-value Provenance range.
An independently bottled Glen Keith which was distilled in 1997 and matured in first fill sherry hogsheads. When the whisky was seen at its best, it was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for their terrific Connoisseurs Choice range in 2015. Yummy sherry notes with stewed fruits and toasted malt.
Another mystery malt from Murray McDavid. This was distilled somewhere in the depths of Speyside, before spending much of its life a first fill American oak bourbon cask. 313 bottles were released at 46% ABV.
Another fascinating Douglas Laing Old Particular whisky, and one from a more uncommon distillery. This bottling from Braeval was distilled in December 1997, aged in Sherry butt for 19 years before being bottled in October 2017 at 51.5% ABV. Only 341 bottles were released.
You may know this distillery by the name of Braes of Glenlivet, which is know referred to as Braeval. This is an 18 year old which has spent its time in a single sherry butt from June 1997 to December 2016. It was independently bottled by Douglas Laing and released for their Old Particular range. Only 323 of them made it from the cask.
Independently bottled Benrinnes from Signatory Vintage, distilled in October 1997 and aged for 18 years in two hogsheads before being bottled in May 2016. Notes of fresh pear, vanilla curd and lemon zest.
As part of the 15th batch of BenRiach's brilliant cask strength series, this is a 20 year old Speyside whisky that has lived in Virgin Oak before being bottled at 53.1% ABV. 300 bottles were produced.

A UK exclusive single cask from Speyside distillery BenRiach. This particular release was distilled in June 1997, matured for 19 years before being finished in a dark rum barrel and bottled in November 2016. It’s bottled at 50.8% ABV and only 266 bottles released.
Indie Arran is always exciting to see, this one was matured from February 1997 to August 2018 when it was bottled by Hunter Laing for Old Malt Cask's 20th Anniversary. The outturn was 636 bottles.
A limited edition Bunnahabhain that has followed on from the distillery only bottling they released of a Palo Cortado Sherry cask finish. Distilled in November 1997 and bottled in April 2018 with almost two years spent in those specialist Sherry casks (Palo Cortado is made in very limited quantities and occurs more by accident and style wise is Amontillado on the nose and Oloroso on the palate) only 1620 bottles of this 20 year old Islay malt were released.
An 18 year old single cask release from Douglas Laing's ever popular and reliable Old Particular series that here showcases a lesser known and rarely seen as an official bottling, the Glenburgie distillery in Speyside. Distilled in June 1997 and matured in a refill Sherry butt with only 744 bottles available.
A closed distillery bottling from The Single Malts of Scotland, distilled at Imperial and aged for 21 years in a single bourbon barrel. The result is something quite special, with heaps of vanilla and tropical fruit, some spice and a long peppery finish. Just 215 bottles were filled.
The second of Murray Mcdavid independently released single malts under the "Eorna Loin" label that translates as "Meadow Barley" in Gaelic and we believe this mystery malt to be from the Dailuaine distillery in Speyside. Matured for 20 years in Ex-Bourbon casks, mainly refill but finished in two 1st fill casks from the Chicago based Koval distillery. Only 333 bottles released from a vatting of just two casks.
Bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as part of the Connoisseurs Choice range, this 1997 vintage Ardmore spent 21 years maturing in a refill American oak hogshead. The result is a big-jammy Highlander, with soft smoke and notes of honey-roasted meats. 248 bottles were produced.
Single cask, cask strength single malt from the much-loved Clynelish distillery here, aged for 20 years and bottled by Artful Dodger. After spending two decades in a single ex-bourbon hogshead, it was bottled at 55.9% bringing in notes of creamy vanilla and a light waft of smoke.
