Scotch Single Malt Whisky
These are whiskies that have been distilled at one distillery only, aged for at least three years and bottled above 40% abv. No grain whiskies can sit within this character, only those that have been made purely with malted barley. There are six regions where Scotch single malts are produced, these typically define the style and character of the whiskies. Speyside and Highlands are renowned for those rich and fruity styled whiskies, whilst Islay is home to the peat smoke.
The pre-1986 stock of Glenglassaugh is hugely respected and desirable stuff. The distillery re-opened in 2008 and has been drip-feeding us delightfully old drams since then. This is the oldest bottling in the Rare Cask Release Batch 3 - an ancient 50 year old Glenglassaugh single malt. It was distilled in November 1965, and aged in a hogshead. A spectacular release from the prevalent Bowmore distillery on Islay. This liquid was initially distilled back in 1965, it was then matured for over four decades in a single sherry hogshead until 2008. This Premier Range bottling was released for the travel retail market and only 57 bottles were produced from the cask. This is bottle number 46.
Bottled as part of the 2015 Spring 2015 releases, this Glenfarclas was aged for nearly five decades. The whisky spent its time maturing in a single sherry butt numbered 4512, which filled just 358 bottles.
A beautifully presented 1965 vintage Macallan decanter bottled at 25 years old.
The hand-blown English crystal decanter is often referred to as the 'Tudor Decanter'. The writing on the decanter is difficult to make out on the images but carries a large 'M'.
Includes a crystal stopper.
