Scotch Single Malt Whisky
These are whiskies that have been distilled at one distillery only, aged for at least three years and bottled above 40% abv. No grain whiskies can sit within this character, only those that have been made purely with malted barley. There are six regions where Scotch single malts are produced, these typically define the style and character of the whiskies. Speyside and Highlands are renowned for those rich and fruity styled whiskies, whilst Islay is home to the peat smoke.

Another fascinating whisky as part of Douglas Laing’s much-loved Old Particular range. This was distilled in November 2001 at Ben Nevis distillery, matured for 15 years in a refill hogshead then bottled at 48.4% ABV in October 2017. Only 102 bottles were released.
Part of an ongoing series of small batch vintage releases from the Knockdhu distillery (goes by the name of Ancnoc on its releases to save being confused with the Knockando distillery) The 2001 is very speyside in style even though it is from the east Highlands and matured for 14 years in a combination of 2nd fill American oak and Spanish oak butts.
Another striking release from the Special Releases series of 2017- the sixteenth bottling of Brora in the iconic series. Just 3,000 bottles were produced, drawn from refill American oak hogsheads which were initially filled in 1982.

Single cask peated Tobermory from Douglas Laing's Old Particular range. This Ledaig was initially distilled in May 2001 and bottled 15 years later in March 2017, producing 355 bottles of superb Island single malt whisky.
Single cask single malt from the Laphroaig distillery, released for Hunter Laings extensive Old Malt Cask range. It was matured from February 2001 to April 2017 in a refill butt, which when emptied produced 742 bottles at natural cask strength. A delicious Islay whisky with classic Laphroaig character - salty peat, smoked meats and lemon cake.
An indie bottling of Laphroaig released for Hunter Laings First Editions range of single cask whiskies. This 15 year old Islay single malt was aged in a refill butt from 2001 to 2016, producing an outturn of 244 bottles.
Each Distillers Edition expression undergoes a second (or 'double') maturation in casks that have previously held a fortified wine.
A really distinctive and distinguished dram, full of peat while the Pedro Ximinez sherry wood naturally has a big say; A more mellow Lagavulin, not quite as deep or intense as the 16 year old.
A Winter Distillation from Douglas Laing's Provenance range. This 9-year-old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain was distilled in the winter months of 2001 and bottled in Autumn 2011 from and ex-Sherry butt.
Drawn from a single sherry butt after ageing for 15 years, this well-sherried Bunnahabhain was bottled up for the Old Particular range by Douglas Laing. This Islay single malt whisky was matured from December 2001 to March 2017 with an outturn of 611 bottles.
A great colour on this 14 year old whisky from Islay favourite Bunnahabhain. Bottled by Murray McDavid, it was initially distilled in 2001 and matured in Sherry butt. Then it was given a feisty finish in a first-fill Port pipe before being bottled in 2017.

This is an interesting 15 year old example - distilled in December 2001, matured in a refill hogshead and bottled in June 2017 - as part of Douglas Laing’s well-respected Old Particular range. This single cask yielded 321 bottles.

Independently bottled single malt Scotch whisky from the now-sadly closed distillery of Port Ellen. It was distilled on the Island of Islay in 1982 and bottled in August 2016 by Douglas Laing. After 33 years of maturation in cask #11120, there was a small outturn of just 198 bottles produced.
A heavily-sherried bottling of 33-year-old Port Ellen for the Old & Rare Platinum Selection by Hunter Laing. Just 108 of these were filled from the single sherry butt, once housed in what is now the lost distillery on Islay - Port Ellen.
A very well-aged single cask Bowmore distilled on the Isle of Islay in 1982 and matured for over three decades. It was released in 2014 by independent bottlers Wemyss Malts and titled Loch Indaal Catch to best describe the character of the whisky. 165 bottles were filled from the hogshead cask.

A 31 year old single malt Scotch whisky presented in a hand crafted case, made from the cask itself that matured this exact Spirit!
