Scotch Single Malt Whisky
These are whiskies that have been distilled at one distillery only, aged for at least three years and bottled above 40% abv. No grain whiskies can sit within this character, only those that have been made purely with malted barley. There are six regions where Scotch single malts are produced, these typically define the style and character of the whiskies. Speyside and Highlands are renowned for those rich and fruity styled whiskies, whilst Islay is home to the peat smoke.
14-year-old Tomatin single malt finished in Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks. Plenty of ripe red fruits and jammy notes in this one.
The Dalwhinnie ‘Distillers Edition’ bottlings are finished in Oloroso Sherry casks. This is the 2017 release, which was distilled back in 2002, and then bottled at 43% ABV.
A fantastic single cask official release of Ben Nevis aged for 10 years in an Ex-White port pipe cask. Distilled in December 2002 and bottled in November 2013 with only 710 bottles released.
An excellent value whisky from the good folk at anCnoc - or rather the Knockdhu Distillery. This expression of their Vintage range was distilled in 2002, and was matured for 14 years in a mixture of American and Spanish oak casks. This was bottled without colouring of chill-filtration at 46% ABV. Really superb stuff.
Another striking release from the Special Releases series of 2017- the sixteenth bottling of Brora in the iconic series. Just 3,000 bottles were produced, drawn from refill American oak hogsheads which were initially filled in 1982.
From family-owned company Gordon & MacPahil comes this exceptional indie bottling of Glenesk which was distilled in 1980 and bottled in 2014. It was released as part of their Old & Rare range.
Murray McDavid do like their fancy finishes, and this was impressively finished in a red wine cask from Chateau Haut-Brion. It’s a 14 year old Bowmore that beforehand lived in a bourbon hogshead after being distilled in 2002. Only 340 bottles were released.
A heavily-sherried 12 year old single malt Scotch released as part of the 2015 Bowmore 'Feis Ile Collection'. The whisky was matured entirely in first fill sherry butt #2214 before being hand bottled by ourselves and presented at natural cask strength to celebrate Feis Ile 2015.
Bottled by Douglas Laing as part of the Provenance range, this 10 year old indie bottling of Bowmore was distilled in Autumn 2002 until Winter 2012. The whisky was bottled after 10 years maturing in a single refill hogshead cask, before being presented at a reasonable ABV of 46%. Expect a pungent coastal character with touches of fruit n spice.
Port Ellen of this age tends to make most whisky collectors weak at the knees, so you'd better snap it up. Bottled for Douglas Laing's Xtra Old Particular range, it was distilled in 1982, matured in a single refill hogshead cask for 34 years...
Independently bottled single malt Scotch whisky from the now-sadly closed distillery of Port Ellen. It was distilled on the Island of Islay in 1982 and bottled in August 2016 by Douglas Laing. After 33 years of maturation in cask #11120, there was a small outturn of just 198 bottles produced.
A heavily-sherried bottling of 33-year-old Port Ellen for the Old & Rare Platinum Selection by Hunter Laing. Just 108 of these were filled from the single sherry butt, once housed in what is now the lost distillery on Islay - Port Ellen.
A very well-aged single cask Bowmore distilled on the Isle of Islay in 1982 and matured for over three decades. It was released in 2014 by independent bottlers Wemyss Malts and titled Loch Indaal Catch to best describe the character of the whisky. 165 bottles were filled from the hogshead cask.
Released by Duncan Taylor as part of the Tantalus range, this is quite something from the Bowmore distillery. A 31 year old single malt Scotch whisky presented in a hand crafted case, made from the cask itself that matured this exact Spirit! Independent bottlers Duncan Taylor have done a fine job with the Tantalus bottlings.

Barristas Dram was part of the January releases of single cask bottlings by Wemyyss, this ones from Craigellachie. Distilled in 2002 this Speyside whisky was aged in a single sherry butt before being bottled in 2015. Thick toffee on the nose followed by Intense fruits on the palate, in this one.
A single malt Glen Grant distilled way back in 1948 and bottled at 58 years old in 2006 by the very well respected independent bottler Gordon & Macphail who were the semi official bottler for the likes of Glen Grant and Macallan back in the day and holds up very well to long ageing in Sherry wood.
