Scotch Single Malt Whisky
These are whiskies that have been distilled at one distillery only, aged for at least three years and bottled above 40% abv. No grain whiskies can sit within this character, only those that have been made purely with malted barley. There are six regions where Scotch single malts are produced, these typically define the style and character of the whiskies. Speyside and Highlands are renowned for those rich and fruity styled whiskies, whilst Islay is home to the peat smoke.

New to the BenRiach range in 2015, the 10 year old Speyside single malt Scotch is now a core bottling from the distillery. Since the distillery had taken on new ownership, this has been something they have worked towards ever since taking the reins. Winters Gold is an expression by Dalwhinnie inspired by the colder seasons of the year. The whisky used for this bottling was distilled only during the colder months of the year. A rather nice non age statement whisky with a tempting colour to it.
As if the 10 year old wasnt enough, winning Gold for Best Speyside Single Malt 8 to 12 years, Benromach have now unleashed a 15 Year old. This ones richer, punchier and certainly more of a sherry-monster. Benromach 15 year old is comprised of whiskies matured in both bourbon and sherry casks, resulting in a abundance of flavour to delve into. Awesome.
BenRiach was the first Speyside distillery to produce a peated malt since the Second World War. Their peated range lives on today in the Authenticus range and this is the oldest expression in that series after the previous releases at 21 and 25 years old. Matured in a combination of Ex-Bourbon and Ex-Sherry casks, non-chill-filtered and bottled at 46%.
A youthful Glen Garioch that's been bottled as part of Carn Mor's Strictly Limited range. A nipper at 6 years old, this has been matured in a big sherry puncheon. Distilled in 2011 with 776 bottles being released in 2018.
Distilled at Loch Lomond in 2006, this Scotch whisky spent 11 years in a single hogshead before being bottled for Wemyss Malts in Autumn 2017. Unusually, it comes presented under the Croftengea name with an outturn of just 387 bottles.
Packed with tropical fruits a mixed berries, this independently bottled Dalmore from Gordon & MacPhail was bottled in 2015 for their Connoisseurs Choice range.

This Speyside-based Glentauchers has lived for two decades in Bourbon Hogsheads cask. Distilled in 1996, this was bottled as part of the Highland Laird range from the relatively new independent bottler Bartels Whisky.
A splendidly aged offering from Ben Nevis, which was distilled in 1996 – this was aged for 20 years in a single sherry butt, imparting some lovely colours and flavours. Bottled in 2017, for Elixir Distillers’ The Single Malts of Scotland range, it was bottled at 53.1% ABV - only 466 bottles are available.
A UK exclusive bottling from GlenDronach, matured for 21 years in a single Pedro Ximénez Sherry puncheon. They distilled this is in July 1995 before filling cask #3248, which later produced just 531 bottles in October 2016.
Rare single malt Scotch whisky bottled up for GlenDronach's 15th batch of single cask releases. Distilled in May 1992, it was then left to age patiently in a single sherry butt for 25 years. On May 2017, just 554 bottles were drawn from the cask.
An impressively well-aged Mosstowie here - a 37 year old aged in a single bourbon barrel and bottled for the Cask Strength Collection by Signatory Vintage. The name Mosstowie referrers to Miltonduffs spirit distilled exclusively in their Lomond still. It was aged in barrel #5046 from March 1979 to January 2016 with an outturn of just 99 bottles.
A single cask release from Glencadam, a Highland distillery that deserves to be much better known. Distilled in October 1979 and aged for 35 long years in cask #5469 before being bottled in June 2015 with only 135 bottles released at 54.8% and presented in a lovely decanter shape bottle and bespoke box.

Originally released for the travel retail market, Laphroaig Triple Wood as the name might suggest has been matured in a trio of casks (ex-Bourbon, Quarter casks and European Oloroso Sherry butts) This edition displays all the signature peat smoke with some softer and sweeter fruit notes and bottled at 48% ABV.

Laphroaig Lore is a non age statement replacement for the now discontinued 18 year old release and contains some of the most "precious stock" (to quote Laphroaig) that has been matured in a combination of first fill Sherry casks and quarter casks. It is actually a small batch produced mix of malt aged 7-21 years old and was voted "Best no age statement Scotch" in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2019.

Part of the Kinship range, from Hunter Laing released in 2017 to celebrate the Feis Ile – the Islay Festival of Music and Malt. Why would they be releasing this?
