Blended Malt Whisky

Blended malt whisky relates to the term of using no grain whiskies in a blend, simply 100% single malts. These type of whiskies are more complex than blended Scotch whiskies that contain a percentage of grain in their blend, which is cheaper to produce. A particular bottler of Blended malts that we love are Compass Box, who are always pushing the boundaries and experimenting with great new blends.

1989 Alainn 27 Year Old - The Vatting 44.9% (Bottle - 1/70cl)

Murray McDavid's the Vatting series is all about blending some interesting whiskies to a theme. The Àlainn 27 Year Old is all about Islay whiskies, and these have been brought together (vatted) Islay after being finished in a Sherry butt. It was bottled in 2017 at 44.9% ABV.
