Tucked away in the far south of Italy, in Campania, Vesevo produces a range of wines which tend to be fermented at cooler temperatures similar to those found in New Zealand - the wine makers believe that this enhances the flavours giving a purer taste to the wines. The Anglianico from Vesevo is complex and intense on the palate with notes of red fruits - cranberries, cherries and raspberries, this is followed by a touch of spice and a slight hint of vanilla on the lengthy finish.
This wine is hand bottled without filtration or fining, and averages 30 years of age. Zesty on the nose, this sweet wine is packed with marmalade and honey flavours along with citrus and apricot. An intense and dry finish follows. Lovely served chilled as an aperitif, or matched with an indulgent desert - either way we think its a must this Christmas.
In 2002 Fonseca created Terra Prima, the first port to be made entirely using organic grapes. Full of dark fruits on the nose, intense flavours and just the right amount of acidity on the palate, this is a great port that would perfectly finish off a decadent meal.
