    2018 Fleurie Vieilles Vignes Domaine Perrachon - (Bottle - 1/75cl)

    One of the most delicate wines from the Beaujolais cru. The vines grow at the foot of the prestigious plot, La Madone.Â
    Perrachon’s Fleurie vineyard covers only 1.1 hectares on granite soil. All grapes are harvested by hand then the whole grapes go into a vat to start the alcoholic fermentation process. There is no oak ageing. This wine has a nice garnet colour with vibrant fresh berries and red fruit flavours. The wine is dry with great balanced tannins and a refreshing finish.

    This domaine, on the La Bottiere Estate in Julienas (Beaujolais), dates from 1877. Currently the fifth (Martine and Laurent) and sixth (Maxime and Adrian) generations work on the estate. They have added Domaine des Perelles to the Romanèche-Thorins territory, situated near the Moulin-à-Vent hills. Their latest purchase is Domaine des Mouilles, now the heart of their operations, acquired in 1989. 

    Before starting to work with his father, Jacques, Laurent Perrachon decided to see more of the world. He started at Chateau Ausone where he completed his school qualifications and following that, travelled around South African and Californian vineyards. In 1988 Laurent returned to his roots in the Beaujolais area to work with his Dad.  

    Laurent says, "it is mind opening to look at what others do in different places. I am curious and ready to adopt new ideas". Every year, he invests in new equipment, in improving the cellars, and adding new parcels to the domaine. Currently, Laurent and the rest of the family look after 23 hectares in Beaujolais. They harvest grapes on six appellations: Julienas, of course, also Morgon with the famous vineyard Cote de Py, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, Chenas and their latest addition, Saint-Amour.
