A whisky made from a staggering 45 different whiskies, crafted by springbanks owners, J & A Mitchell. it was also bottled at 45% ABV. Lovely stuff. the number 45 takes its name from the percentage of yes votes in the Scottish referendum in 2014.
The first core release by the Mitchell’s Glengyle distillery is this 12-year-old whisky as part of the Kilkerran range. A lightly peated, double distilled single malt matured in 70% Ex-Bourbon and 30% Ex-Sherry casks.
Widely thought of as being one of the great value for money peated single malts on the market. A clean salted citrus, vanilla wafers on a bonfire nose leads to a lovely oily, floral and creamy palate with notes of toasted coconut, lemon/lime curd and cinder toffee.
