2011 Montlandrie Cotes de Castillon Denis Durantou (Bottle - 1/75cl)
Denis Derantou bought the estate in 2009. Unfortunately Mr Derantou passed away in May 2020. He was a respected winemaker in the Bordeaux region. He also owned the famous Ch L'Eglise Clinet in Pomerol.
Chateau Montlandrie dates back to the late 18th century. The 12 hectares of vine is a patchwork of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc.
The wine is made in small stainless steel vats. Only 30% of the wine is transferred to new French oak barrels for an average of 14 months. The annual production is very small, it is between 2,000 to 2,250 cases.
Montlandrie wine offers a great age window from 5 to 15 years of age, depending on the vintage. I advise decanting the wine at least 30 to 45 minutes before serving.
