2010 Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru Domaine Leflaive (Case - 3/75cl)
Although the Domaine itself was founded by Joseph Leflaive from 1920, the Leflaive family claims links to the Cote de Beaune going back to 1580, and more specifically; to their establishment in Puligny from 1717. Domaine Leflaive has been well placed to benefit from a regional wine-making tradition dating back 2,000 years to the Gallo-Roman era. Although approaching their third wine-making century they continue to look forward to the future, a developmental focus shown by their status as pioneers of bio-dynamic viticulture in Burgundy since the 1990s. Conditions in the 2010 vintage overall were classic, meaning that although some unseasonal climatic phenomena made their presence felt in a slightly earlier than usual harvest, the fruit in general was beautifully pure and clean, boasting good levels of sugar and strong acidity. The result was wines of benchmark definition and finesse. Leflaives 2010 Chevalier Montrachet exhibits both power and poise, with floral aromas, citrus flavours, and a refreshingly dry mineral backbone.
