Producer profiles and tasting notes

The Mapa, is a Chilean venture by Baron Philippe de Rothschild the famous Bordeaux wine company. The wine shows good depth of plum colour, intense blackcurranty nose, nice zip and freshness, good weight and body, good grip, finishes long . Good example. Ironstone which is part of the Cloudy Bay setup, make a very pleasing Grenache Shiraz from Western Oz fruit. Made from vines varying in age from 25-50 years and grown on different soil types including sand and gravel. The wine is full expressive and full of juicy fruit. Canaletto are a branded arm of the dynamic Italian wine company Casa Girelli. Girelli who own several great wineries in Chianti and Valpolicella, have just added this superb Primitivo from Puglia in the South of Italy, The wine is quite a power house with good acidity and great individuality. Boschendal is one of South Africa’s best known wineries, there Chenin Blanc is crisp and flavoury, very popular every day white. Terazzas is a new estate for us, quite timely as their Chardonnay has just been recommend this month in Decanter Magazine. Nautilus Sauvignon Blanc has just been awarded a Silver medal in the International Wine Challenge A dry zesty wine, with the typical Marlborough spicy gooseberry and capsicum aromas and pungent, fresh fruit flavours.
