Cask style: Aleatico is an Italian grape variety from ancient times, brought to the Crimea in 1830. The grape variety accumulates sugar well and by the end of October the sugar content is 28% to 30%. The wine is normally aged for 2 years, 16.0% abv, sugar 18%.
Nose: Big, savoury meaty tones: steak & ale pie followed by rich underlying dried fruits and fortified wine aromas. Faint treacle and dark chocolate.
Palate: Rich toffee and PX sherry flavours, dark chocolate cherries and spicy ginger and touch of black pepper. Creamy and round.
Finish: Lots of toffee and lingering spicy ginger and subtle oak.

The conditions at this old munitions base, 100 metres below ground are unrivalled, offering temperature control, In Bond facility and full replacement value insurance. The wines are stored under each client's individual "Protection Plus" account number, fully labelled and can only be released or moved with his or her written instructions. No right of lien can be exercised over wines held on each client's behalf. Client's stock can be inspected, by arrangement, at any time excluding November & December.
