Benriach OB 16 year old 40 % Alc Speyside Whisky

The BenRiach Distillery has won the Global ‘Icons of Whisky’ Distiller of the Year 2009 award. Organised by Whisky Magazine, "Icons of Whisky" seeks to find the best distiller of the year from distilleries in Scotland, Ireland, the USA, Japan and the Rest of the World. Earlier in the year, the Elgin distillery, with its headquarters in Larbert, won the Scottish title and last night it went on to scoop the global award, beating the Nikka Whisky Distillery Company of Japan and Heaven Hill Distillery, Kentucky, USA. The BenRiach distillery has been producing quality single malt Scotch whisky since 1898. Five years ago it was acquired by Billy Walker, Geoff Bell and Wayne Kieswetter. Today, in addition to the superb aged bottlings at 12, 16, 20, 25 and 30 years old, the company also includes two peated single malt expressions within the portfolio - the aptly-named 'Curiositas', aged 10 years old, and its big brother, the 21 years old 'Authenticus'.

NOSE: Honey, vanilla, floral, fruity with well balanced wood overtones.
COLOUR: Mid-amber, hints of gold.
TASTE: Rounded medium to full bodied, rich honey, vanilla with hints of cream, spices, toffee and apples.
