Named after Talisker's northerly latitude and one of the strongest Skye malts available.
Nose: Salty, smoky, coastal, breezy. The distillery location in a nose.
Taste: Peat encased in a muscavado sugar in the same way a fly might be encased in amber, melts to allow the slow blossoming of a quite beautiful and peaty thing.
Finish: Some welcome whip and bite, the smoke and vanilla hang in there and even the odd hint of mocha puffs around a bit.
Balance: A glowing tribute, I hope, for a glowing whisky.
95/100 From Jim Murray's Whisky Bible
APPEARANCE: Full gold.
NOSE: Clean and intense, with light smoke like a struck match. Creamy toffee balanced by fruit. Hints of seaweed, heather blossom and vanilla.
BODY: Explosive, intense and smokey.
PALATE: Sweet to start with smoke and tar exploding around the middle. At full strength and explosion that evokes the raw volcanic power that formed Skye’s famous Black Cuillin mountains.
FINISH: Tingling with the signature pepperiness.
|Deep and stormy like the ocean crashing over the rocky shores of its island distillery, Talisker is the only Single Malt Scotch Whisky rugged enough to call the Isle of Skye its home.|
