Not to be confused with Vintage Ports, Colheitas although also from a single and outstanding vintage are different due to their aging process. Firstly aged in Cask for at least 7 years followed by as many as 50 years ageing in wood. Colheitas are rarer than Vintage Ports making up only 1% of the production, they represent great value and are often fantastic to drink.
Winner of a Gold Medal in the 2017 International Wine Challenge, and a Gold Medal at the 2017 Decanter World Wine Awards! This 1957 Colheita from Kopke is outstanding, packed with complex flavours and a beautifully elongated finish.
Ruby centre with a faded chocolate rim, the nose reticent at first soon blossoms revealing a vivid biscuit crumb nose, with raisen, the palate is tenuous, powerful, and extremely long, with a nutty maderisation. Unctuous, cool and fresh. This is lacy and complex. Milk chocolate. This grows in stature just a great wine.
