Tenuta Brunelli, based in Montalcino, make around a thousand cases of great value Chianti besides their excellent Brunellos. A blend of 90% Sangiovese with 5% each of the lesser known Canaiolo and Mammolo Varieties. The grapes are cut and pressed, then the fermentation process takes place. The grape peels and the must fermentation lasts about 20 days. Racked off its lees the wine is stored in containers in temperature controlled cellars, in order to help the malolactic fermentation following which it is aged several months in stainless steel tanks before bottling.
In 1964 Mauro Brunelli and Anna Savini, owners of the Brunelli Estate, moved to Martoccia a small farm of about three hectares, located in Montalcino. In 1998, together with only child Luca, Mauro and Anna bought more land where they planted vines. Now, the Brunelli Estate covers 15 hectares of land of which 5 are registered as Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. while olive groves and forest cover the remainder of the property. Their love of the land and respect for tradition is a driving force behind the enthusiasm of the Brunelli family who live and work in this field.
