This Cuvée from Champagne Gosset-Brabant is made from 100% Grands Crus Vines, at least 70% of which are family owned. With 5 years minimum bottle age, 6 years in Magnum, the quality oozes from the glass. The blend is 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay. Without doubt this is Grand Marque quality.
"A serious treat...chic and elegant" Susy Atkins, Stella magazine, Sunday Telegraph
Christian Gosset and his brother run their 10 hectare family domaine with great energy and passion. Located in the centrally located village of Ay right opposite the slightly more famous Maison Bollinger, it is not difficult to understand why the brothers are so proud of their 55000 bottle production. Dominated by the wonderful Pinot Noir vineyards of Ay, Champagne Gosset-Brabant make powerful full-flavoured Champagnes which work remarkably well as quality table wines as well as the usual aperitifs. A high proportion of family owned vineyards, a culture of organic farming, and a minimum of three and a half years bottle age before disgorgement all add up to hand-crafted wines which represent exceptional value for money.
This is a blend of four-fifths Ay Pinot Noir and one-fifth Chardonnay, half of which comes from Ay and half from Chouilly. Based on 2004, with reserve wine from 2002, it demonstrates a wonderful combination of richness and finesse. The aromas of ripe strawberry, plum and fresh peach are fragrant and slightly honeyed, supported by an insistent note of spicy minerality that lingers through the finish. It doesn't have tremendous length, but it demonstrates plenty of character and a finely-tuned harmony, feeling expressive and complete. Peter Liem

Cuvée from 2005 base year with 1/4 reserve wines from 2004 & 2002
Full fine mousse, the touch of amber on the colour is a giveaway to the extra couple of years bottle age the Grande Reserve is given before release. The nose is quite bold, stewed apple and toasty notes, quite yeasty too, both following on to the palate which is generous, good volume, and layered, this is a complex full bodied style of Champagne which will work well with food as well as an aperatif. Drink Now-2015
From Magnum: Medium gold, there is an extra level of sweetness on the nose here, could be from the extra bottle age of the magnum. There is an easy going palate, nicely fruity with white peach and ripe pear flavours coming through. This is fleshy. Could maybe do with a tad more citrus to balance the ample fruit, but quality juice.
