Georges Roumier's Bonnes Mares Grand Cru is one of the most highly sought after wines in Burgundy. The incredible terrior, combined with the efforts of expert winemaker, Christophe Roumier, are completely responsible!
Christophe's style has been to reduce the amount of new oak and the temperature of fermentation to preserve the delicate subtleties in the wine, creating a complex and fragrant finish. Once bottled, the wine tends to need a few years to settle, and will develop for at least a decade.
By becoming the husband of Genevieve Quanquin in 1924, Georges Roumier was given the reins to the Quanquin family vineyards which he rapidly began expanding upon. Using a traditional French arrangement of 'metayage', Roumier would be given control of another person's vineyard, without buying, it in exchange for a portion of the crop.
Now in the hands of Christophe Roumier, Georges' grandson, the domaine's wines are highly renowned and in great demand!
