Cornu's Meursault derives from the vineyard of Corbins, the soil is light and stony and the vines of an average of 40 years old. The 2009 is rich and fat, beleived by Pierre Cornu, Edmonds son, to be a very good but perhaps not quite as fine a vintage as the 2010.
Now in the capable hands of Pierre Cornu, and assisted by his wife Edith, Domaine Edmond Cornu is at the forefront of wine-making in the Ladoix Commune, which proudly shares part of the Grand Cru Vineyard of Corton with the commune of Aloxe-Corton. Pierre is dedicated and open-minded in his quest to continue to make the best wines possible. The property extends some 14 hectares across Villages Premiers and Grands Crus, in red and white. The wines are very well made with finesse and without any hard edges; they offer excellent value / quality ratio.
Fairly strict on the nose with a hint of orange marmalade, and green tea, this is a power house of flavour, and vigour, quite lifted acidity, iced lemon tea and tabacco on the back of the palate. This is youthful but the secondary flavours are evolving, the texture is creamy. Good length. Typically bold Meursault.
