Information About Bitouzet-Prieur

The Bitouzet-Prieur domaine is based in the Cote de Beaune villages of Volnay and Meursault. These are stylish wines, built on five generations of knowledge and understanding of the importance of terroir which marks them with individuality. Vincent Bitouzet's whites are fine, structured and minerally, aged in 100% new oak, adding an extra layer of character. The reds are charming and pure.

This also displays spiced pear notes but here the supporting aromas are citrus, wet stone and rose petal rather than hazelnut. The intense and beautifully detailed middle weight flavors brim with an almost pungent minerality, all wrapped in a sappy, linear and driving bone dry finish. Beautiful juice and very Perrières in basic character. Comments: Outstanding. Drink 2015+

Meursault Perrieres is ajacent to the Puligny border and higher up the slope, I think this is significant in the style of Bitouzet Prieur's 2008. In this classic vintage it shows great minerality and finesse, a steely wine, pure and focussed with a great span of complexity on the nose. There is plenty of rich fruit, with hints of tangerine and honey. The quality is screaming at you on the finish, it's very difficult to deny another little sip. This is excellent white Burgundy for me, perfect now if you like a fresh zippy wine; leave it a while if you prefer to unravel a few more complex layers.
