Very dark colour, the nose has impressive pure black fruit, lovely complexity, toast, tar and cedar. The palate has a tenderness, calm, ripe, very polished, I like the feel and weight. Good freshness, sits well, focussed, delicious balance. Long spicy finish. A wonderful second wine.
This is a fantastic second wine with walnut, berry, stone and bark character. The texture is really excellent with chewy yet ultra-polished mouth feel. Long and intense. Better than 2015.
Rather sumptuous nose. Tarry start with lots of sweet black fruit and drama. Pretty tight and for the moment hard work, but it should relax with time.
The 2016 Le Carillon d'Angélus is plump, juicy and open-knit. In 2016 Merlot is a bit more pronounced than it has been in the past, while there is no Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe, silky tannins add to an impression of total finesse. Dark red cherry, mocha and plum are pushed forward in this succulent, giving Saint Émilion.
The 2016 Le Carillon d'Angelus, which represents a higher percentage of the total production this year, has a tightly wound blackberry and briary-scented bouquet with admirable delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, harmonious and rounded in style with just the right amount of salinity on the finish to beckon you back for another sip. This is a lovely Deuxième Vin built to give pleasure.
