The tell-tale core Medoc terroir is always obvious at Aney, with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot, located half way between Margaux and St Julien, matured in French oak for eighteen months, one third of which is new, it is simply a great value Cru Bourgeois. It has evolved perfectly, now with 9 years in bottle, it is still robust but cerebral too.
We presented this wine at two recent tastings and it was very popular, with the audience amazed by the quality and value.
Classic, bramble and black cherry fruits, some sweet spice (cinnamon, cedarwood) and forest floor, topped off with violet notes. Good balance and a lengthy finish.
Chateau Aney is located in Cussac Fort Medoc, between the famous Margaux and Saint Julien appellations. The vineyard originally created in 1850, was bought In 1972 by the Raimond Family. Jean Raimond and his son Jean Pierre had to carry out extensive works to bring the property to its current thriving condition. Today, Jean Pierre and his son David, continue to perpetuate the great family tradition of Vigneron. The chateau has won many awards as well as many friends at N&P and we consider the wines incredible value for money.
A brilliant and dense ruby-purple colour, this wine is characterised by a complex nose of ripe red & black fruits, spices and with hints of oak and roasted coffee. In the mouth the wine's ripe fruit and red berry & black currant fruit flavour's lead to a complex, structured and lingering finish lightly timbered...To be discovered!
This wine has developed quite alot of tertiary flavours since last I tasted it 12 months ago. There is a lovely Medocaine nose here, with orange zest, clove and black fruits, it charms equally on the palate. There is plenty of silk and form, good freshness still, this is at its prime now but will be good for several years yet. Nice austere edge, which adds character to the seductive side of the wine.

The conditions at this old munitions base, 100 metres below ground are unrivalled, offering temperature control, In Bond facility and full replacement value insurance. The wines are stored under each client's individual "Protection Plus" account number, fully labelled and can only be released or moved with his or her written instructions. No right of lien can be exercised over wines held on each client's behalf. Client's stock can be inspected, by arrangement, at any time excluding November & December.
