Information About Chateau Croix de Labrie

Chateau Croix de Labrie is an incredibly small Saint-Emilion estate, producing a small quantity of predominantly Merlot wines of exceptional quality. 2.52 hectares of vineyards are scattered around the heart of Saint-Emilion and are tended by winemaker Axelle Courdurie. Old vines, 98% of which are Merlot and averaging around 40 years of age, yield small numbers of highly concentrated grapes.

The estate is often described to be organised as if it was in Burgundy. Each vineyard plot is vinified separately, in French oak barrels or vats, before blending and maturing in new French oak for at least 18 months. Ultimately, these processes create wines which can be enjoyed for nearly twenty years from release!

This is a sexy little wine made for hedonists. Rich, velvety, plush waves of dark chocolate covered plums, licorice and minerals fill your palate. This 100% Merlot is drinking perfectly today. Owners should drink this wine young to capture its fruit and vitality.

A tiny production St.-Emilion, the 2000 Croix de Labrie offers a big, thick mouthful of wine, loads of flavor, and a distinctive, modern style emphasizing melted chocolate, graphite, coffee bean, creme de cassis, and jammy black currants. While not terribly subtle, it is loaded with flavor. Enjoy this juicy, fully mature effort over the next 5-7 years.

Rating : 93/100
