A stunning wine originating from the Sauternes region of Bordeaux (perhaps second only in it's vintage to d'Yquem), composing of a mix of 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc varieties. Expect lusciously sweet, apricot flavors on the palette, ideal for serving alongside dessert and/or confectionery.
The wine estate first took the name, Suduiraut, in 1580 with the marriage of Leonard de Suduiraut and Nicole d'Allard. Shortly afterwards, the original chateau was plundered and burned down in the Fronde insurrection and later rebuilt and finished with a beautiful formal garden. In 1855, Chateau Suduiraut was classified as a Premier Cru.
Suduiraut represents 92 hectares of perfect terrior for developing noble rot on its grapes, receiving plenty of sunlight and regular autumn mists. The thin dry soil forces the vines to reach deep for nutrients, lowering yields, concentrating the grapes and taking on distinctive mineral character.
"The ’89 is a little lighter in hue compared to the Suduiraut ’90. The nose offers caramelized pear, frangipani, yellow flowers and a touch of quince, moderate vigor at first, but opening nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of bitter orange rind on the entry, marmalade, quince and a mandarin and dried apricot on the finish. There is good length to this Suduiraut, although it misses a little breeding, perhaps due to the denuding by the Creme de Tete. Tasted February 2011." - Neal Martin

In Bond storage is facilitated at Octavian in Wiltshire, the U.K's premier wine storage facility. The conditions at this old munitions base, 100 metres below ground are unrivalled, offering temperature control, In Bond facility and full replacement value insurance. The wines are stored under each client's individual "Protection Plus" account number, fully labelled and can only be released or moved with his or her written instructions. No right of lien can be exercised over wines held on each client's behalf. Client's stock can be inspected, by arrangement, at any time excluding November & December.
