Tasting Date : 01 February 2012

Copious aromas of licorice, charcoal, damp earth, black raspberries, black currants and a hint of espresso jump from the glass of this deep purple-colored 2009. Medium to full-bodied with sweet tannin, plenty of baby fat and a seductive personality, it should drink well for 10-15+ years.

Rating : 90

Good deep robe, sexy sweet nose, raspberry concentrate on the nose, great depth here on the palate, very lovely vanilla quality on the palate, very nice acidity here carries well. This is a powerful full bodied St Emilion, the old vines comes through on the finish, a wine of substance. On song this year.

Rating : 92-94+

Tasted at Chateau Ausone. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, cropped at 32hl/ha, the Moulin Saint Georges has a well defined, ripe, supple bouquet with notes of cassis, black plum, maraschino cherry and a touch of orange zest: harmonious and lifted. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins, a slight creaminess to the texture but it is not overdone. Very well balanced with fine tannins, very focused and lithe with pure red-berried fruits laced with a soupcon of vanilla pod towards the finish. Excellent.

Rating : 91-93
