Chateau Lamothe-Cissac 2010 is comprised of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The 2010 vintage produced one of the best Chateau Lamothe Cissac ever produced. Fresh blackcurrant fruit aromas entwined with a rich chocolate note. The palate offers dense fruit. Great structure and complexity. Another very good wine produced by Chateau Lamothe-Cissac.
Chateau Lamothe Cissac is a Cru Bourgeois classified estate, located in the Haut Medoc appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux, just west of the famous Pauillac AOC. This is a Chateau famed for producing wine as far back as the Roman times... The Chateau was purchased by the Fabre Family (Domaines Fabre) In 1964 and in 1991 current owner Vincent Fabre took over full management of the estate. The wines at Lamothe-Cissac are now going from strength to strength and offer fantastic value for money. Highly recommended by N&P.
Medium deep plum, turning dusty pink at the rim, the nose is substantial, and complex, with perfume of rose, stewed damson, hints of raspberry and strawberry, gravelly earthy medocaine notes too. The palate is fine, with ample silk, wrestling with firm tannins, it is powerful but graceful. There are plenty of tertiary flavours, the balance and guile here is pushing towards Cru Classe level, especially in a great vintage like 2010. A consistently good reliable property, just west of Pauillac and the proximity shows.
